After a 5 year long pause Developer Ninja Theory has rebooted the series Devil May Cry. It’s been a long time since Dante has slain some big ass Ugly mothaf*****g Demon bosses. Does this new Dante really have the caliber to bring back the memories or it’s just another “I-kill-the-demons” character.

Those who are new to the series this is a good opportunity to introduce yourselves to the series as this is a reboot of the whole series.
And for those DMC followers, you know who Dante is?
DMC franchise is known for its Hackn’Slash-in-style gameplay, great environment, insanely difficult levels in gaming industry and One of the most ruthless protagonist and antagonist
The game we are discussing and are about to dissect is the fifth installment in the franchise and also a reboot of the original series. Let us discuss about the game and its features one by one

Story:
The story of this game is pretty simple and straightforward. Dante is a Nephilim, the son of an Angel(Mother:Eve) and Demon(Father:Sparda) who were killed by a Demon called Mundus. Dante takes mission of avenging his parents. That’s all to it. Normally the story of games like these are simple. The story could have been better. This story does not have any jaw dropping or WTF moments in it.
Rating:- 5/10

Enviornment:-
This game has one of most creative and beautiful worlds made in modern gaming trends. The World is set in one of parts of hell called “Limbo”. Ninja theory has shown that Limbo is reflection of the real world and they took the term “Reflection” pretty seriously. I mean how many games you have played where the character is running on a pathway UPSIDE DOWN or watch yourself killing the demons on a News Channel. The beauty of the world is just out of the box and unique.
There are ledges and grapple points placed all over the world so that player can proceed on the story path where he would have least expected.
Rating:- 8/10

Gameplay:-
This is the best part of the game. DMC is always known for its combat and Killing-in-style style gameplay and this time also it has lived up to the expectation set by its predecessors.
As the player moves forward the hordes of enemies keep on increasing and player has to really improvise on the go to decimate the horde.
Dante is given new weapons as he proceeds ahead in the story. Basically the weapon can be divided in three parts: Angelic weapons, Demonic Weapons and Good ol’ Guns for ranged attacks. Angelic weapons are high speed weapons which can be used for crowd control and have less damage. Demonic weapons are mainly heavy weapons which slow down the character but deal very high damage. And guns are guns everyone knows what to do with them. Btw did I tell you that “Ebony” and “Ivory” are back. For the newtimers these are name of the high caliber guns that have been with Dante since starting. Weapons are fairly balanced and player will have to use all of them. Weapons combos can be unlocked by using upgrade points. But these upgrade points can be re-assigned if player chooses another weapon which is a very good feature
There are several missions in a linear fashion taking the player from one point to another in the story. At the end of the every mission player is shown his style rating. On the style rating point are given to the player.
The game has 3 difficulty levels. Complete the 3rd one and you unlock another difficulty level. This level is INSANELY difficult basically for the Demon himself.
Overall the combat system is awesome and the best feature of this game.

Rating: 9/10

Presentation:-

Voice acting is decent and suits all the characters pretty well.
Music is okish. The music can easily be ignored as the player will be so busy saving his ass from the demon hordes and their bosses. However the Metal and Grunge theme always goes with these type of games

Rating:- 7/10

Verdict:-

Ninja Theory has done justice to the legacy of Dante in this reboot. This game is for both types of player (Followers and New timers). The game has returned after a long time and it has not disappointed the player. Worth a shot!!!

Final Rating: - 7.5/10 (Good)
